Leanin'

UVA absolutely exploded this weekend. I'm talking like more than the average "pound the rock explosion." More along the lines of Hiroshima explosion. We smacked IU so bad it wasn't even funny. 47-7 in Scott Stadium. It wasn't even that close. Despite a few special teams miscues we played flawless football on Saturday. Mikell Simpson scored 4 times and had he not gotten a stinger in 3rd quarter he might have gotten 5 scores. Jameel was in a rhythm hitting up multiple receivers. The overlying statement was that of the defense. UVA's D has been on point lately. I'm not saying it's Buckeye D good but we've been very solid and seem to be confusing teams with the coverages and blitzes. Looking at the schedule we might be able to actually become bowl eligible this year. We go to Maryland this week and that should be a win. Maryland is bad and just lost to Wake Forest this weekend. We then come home against Georgia Tech. This will be a tough game. However, last year we swallowed up their run game and spit it out. Jon Dwyer is a man hoss and could cause problems but if we can stop him and Nesbitt we can easily grab that W. We then have Duke at home the following week. Now, we lost to Puke last year, a complete utter embarassment. I felt like a violated child on the bus ride home after that smashing. I think we get them at home. Take note, Virginia Tech did struggle against Puke this year. I think we'll be ok. The first big time game is after Puke, we go to Miami the first weekend in November. We lost in OT to the U last year, a game we very well should've won had it not been for a garbage PI call late in the game. Going to the U will really be a test and we need another IU type effort to grab that W. We come home and get the Eagles of Boston College. BC is a funny team. I don't know if they're good or not. But I have to believe at home we can take care of business. (Take note these predictions are based on how the team has played the past 2 weeks, we very easily could revert back to William and Mary form if we let our heads get too big, just do what we do). Another test down the stretch is our trip to Death Valley against Klimpson. They have shown they're not very good this year but Death Valley is a tough place to go and win. We really need to be feeling it for that game. Finally, Virginia Tech at home to close out the season. If everything is going well this could be for the ACC title. Wow. Coach Groh has only beaten VA Tech once in his career. So maybe he's due for a win. The atmosphere could be rawkus for this game and there is going to be a lot of high level hitting going on. If all goes well we could possibly pull out a 7-5 season and be bowl eligible. Stay tuned for what could be a very exciting rest of the season.

The Buckeyes took care of business once again on Saturday bringing a 5-0 'Consin back to their level in the Shoe. My dad went to the game and just told me the D of Ohio State is absolutely smothering. 'Consin's QB had only been sacked twice before this game and the Bucks got him 6 times, he claims that it very easily could've been 10 sacks on the day. Once again, Ohio State should win the Big Ten and possibly grab another shot at USC in the Rose Bowl. Michigan sucks. Iowa plays to the level of their competition and Penn State currently doesn't frighten me. Pryor still needs to learn to look off DBs and maybe check his other options if he wants to be a successful QB. Dude, please start using your legs a little bit. Don't be scared to go Barry Sanders on some cats if you feel the need to do so. Nothing wrong with some public embarrassment on a Saturday afternoon #2.

Let's go back and take a look at my playoff predictions...

The Twins got the Tigers in a thrilling one game playoff. However, they were quickly swept by the bats of New York. A-Rod has finally decided to show up in the post season. The Yanks are in such a groove right now it's not even funny they look really tough to beat. So I was right on the Yanks taking this one. The Angels got the Red Sox which wasn't surprising. I bet LAA wishes they would've tried to sign Big Tex because he may be one missing piece they need to beat the Yanks. Unfortunately, he's on the Yankees and that most likely will come back to bite them in the ass. Wow, the Cardinals got swept by the Dodgers. Manny's bat is heating up. But, it's cold in Colorado. The Rockies are battling to stay alive against he Phils. I still think the Phils win and get the Dodgers in the NLCS. To be continued.

Ok, so I was wrong, Tulsa plays Boise State on Wednesday, that's still my upset alert of the week, in case you forgot, here's what I had to say...

Upset alert this week...Tulsa over Boise State. You're going down this week Boise. Thanks for coming. The Golden Hurricane is going to smash you. My man GJ Kinne is going to light your asses up. He's going to sling that rock all over the place. Damaris Johnson is going to catch mad balls and get in the end zone multiple times. Jamad Williams said he's going to drop a career day on you on the ground and make sure he punches a few in as well. So basically, Boise, you suck and you're going to lose. Goodbye BCS bid.
